Sometimes one just thinks to have forgotten the e-mail password, but actually one of the following errors occur when entering the password:

• The keyboard is inadvertently enabled by CAPSLOCK
• The keyboard has been switched from other language to English by mistake
• Spelling mistakes in the password
• Incorrect upper and lower case
• Special characters entered incorrectly
• Punctuation of punctuation ( comma - semicolon )

In the case of the first two types of error in particular, you actually type the correct password, but the computer does not recognize what you believe because other characters are being passed on the keyboard - for example, large letters instead of small ones. If the English keyboard is set, completely different special characters are handed over, because these lie on the English keyboard on other keys.

Method 1 - Read the e-mail password from the browser

If you occasionally check your emails in the browser (and not just a mail client like Thunderbird), your browser may have stored the email password. For example, the Firefox browser will ask you every time you fill out form fields, if you want to save the input. If you did that with your e-mail login, you can simply read the password afterwards. We explain the process using Firefox, with other browsers it works similarly.

1. In Firefox, click on the menu icon ( ≡ ) in the upper right corner and select " Access data and passwords ".
2. You see a list of all stored login information.
3. Click on the entry of your e-mail login and then on the eye icon to display the password.

Method 2 - Find the e-mail password from the provider

If the first method did not work, you can use the provider to find out what your password is. The e-mail provider usually shows you a link like " forgot password " when you log in. Here you can see this, for example, at the email provider GMX:
